Worship Opportunities
Worship is central to our life at Peace. We conduct different types of services each week and hold special services marking distinct aspects of the church year. First time visitors, please visit our contact or visit us page.
Sunday Morning Services
8 a.m. - An informal worship service in the Fellowship Hall with prayer,
conversations on the texts for the day, and Holy Communion is offered weekly.
8:30 a.m. - A service in Amharic, led by Pastor Abebe Tafesse, is held in the lower level of the church office, called the Lauxman House. This small red brick building is located across the parking lot from the main church building.
10:30 a.m. - A traditional worship service in the Sanctuary with
Children's sermon and Holy Communion offered weekly. Organ, hand bell and choir
music accompanies the service three Sundays a month with guitar and contemporary
music on the third Sunday of the month. Children may come to the table to receive
either Holy Communion or a blessing. This service is led by senior pastor, Kathy Hlatshwayo.
12:00 p.m. - Sundays at noon, Pastor Nana Opoku leads a music and prayer-filled service for English-speaking African immigrants and those who love a more spontaneous worship experience. Holy Communion is offered on the third Sunday of the month.
Friday Evening
10:00 p.m. Prayer and quiet contemplation in the sanctuary is led by Pastor Nana Opoku.
Saturday Evening
7:00 p.m. A Bible Study in Amharic is held in the Fellowship Hall.
Special Services
Additional worship services are offered at different times throughout the
church year. These include services on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Ash
Wednesday and mid-week throughout Lent, and during Holy Week. Please click on Calendar for the times of all special services
Child care is provided during worship services
- Infants under 2-years old are cared for in the Nursery room by a Child Care
worker employed by the church.
- Children 2-years old through kindergarten are cared for in the Sunday School
area by adult volunteers.
